Dave, I can barely be bothered reading the GMPCS promotional bumpf. They have got a mess of this that and the other. The 49 cents only runs for a month or two! Big deal. The savings over a month will be about $100. Comparing that with a total cost of $1000 for the handset [assuming that is now the price] and 10 months of minutes at $1.50 or so at 100 minutes a month which is $2500 total. Whooopee do! We save $1 a minute for a month. Okay, maybe the handset should be depreciated over two years but there is opportunity cost on that handset too. The $1000 could go into buying Globalstar stock as part of a takeover by some REAL marketers. But what if what they say is true and there really is big demand for the handsets even at $1.50 a minute and they just want to really, really turn people on with this special offer. Globalstar is going to be absurdly successful IF that is true. Since Bernie is reported as saying we won't get handset numbers or minutes for months yet, it doesn't seem likely. Maybe AirTouch are great marketers, but they sure haven't taught their sales reps much. You'd think they could at least have delivered some leaflets and told the staff, "just give these out" if anyone asks about Globalstar. Or pin them to the wall and let customers find them! Or have an internet link in the shop so the customer could read about it themselves on the Web site. Maurice
