To all: My broker just called me to explain the poor pricing on EMC today. According to him, SOMEBODY, started a rumor that EMC would announce after the close of business today a profit warning. The people on the floor have called the analysts of the company and they say there is NO SUBSTANCE to that rumor. That if anything EMC will beat the number. But it explains the violent moves back and forth in the stock today. A second rumor was that with Veritas acquiring Seagate and taking the disc drive private (they are a major supplier to EMC) it would hurt EMC. Again this was dispelled as an untruth. Just thought you all would like to know what I have been told. I myself hadnt heard the rumor until my broker called me. JDN
