kemble - I agree that Meridith was talking about the long term big picture - that was exactly my point. I did not mean to imply that he was in any way attempting to mislead anyone then or in the later statements - but only that as you say, he is more focused on the larger picture - exactly what is needed for a venture group, but perhaps not the ideal for today's DELL mainstream business. I also agree that Meridith was a large contributor to DELL's success over the last few years. One of the things that effective management does is to move people into positions which best leverage their talents as the company, and the world, change.
