Despite the X-Box experience, it must be getting tougher for Intel to play the bully, not though from a lack of motivation, but because the stick they are carrying isn't as overwhelmingly powerful as the one AMD has. What's Dell going to do: choose an inferior chip from Intel at a slightly lower price? That makes no sense for Dell. People spend a little more on Dell's products than other computer brands because Dell offers a premium product. It would play into Gateway, HP and Compaqs hands if Dell dummied down. I guess the story confirms that AMD (Dresden?) is already producing Spitfires in quantity.
