To ALL: Gottfried's charts (see post #3702) are very instructive. However, note that the stock price of KLIC (and other semi stocks) tends to peak many months before the actual peak of the semiconductor industry itself. Indeed, during the last 2 industry peaks, KLIC had already corrected almost 50% by then. In other words, when the semiconductor industry itself was enjoying maximum revenue and profits - stock prices had already plunged considerably. A perfect example of how stock prices tend to look well into the future.

If we assume the same pattern will repeat itself, then the only way KLIC will continue to advance is if the actual peak of the semiconductor industry itself is many months away. It certainly could be possible, any insights?

I was recently in Asia, and read that several chip firms had plowed up to 40% of revenues into building more capacity. That's great news for now, but it seems classic for an industry top. I'm hardly an expert in this field - just opening this up for discussion...
