While Gottfried's charts are interesting, eliminating alternate premises can be dilutive to your investing health. Gottfried is aware of these posts on Yahoo placed in January: messages.yahoo.com messages.yahoo.com Crystal's questioning of Gottfried's approach should be taken seriously IMO. The two year cycle is probably incorrect by 1/2. It's a fact that every time the sector passes through a periodic correction - which is a very healthy process - invocation of 'the death of the cycle' surfaces. Undoubtedly the industry is, and remains, cyclical. But it is as easy and unhelpful to call a false top as it is a false bottom. In short, there are no 'perfect examples' of leading indicators...just as no two tea leaves are alike.
