Ken,thanks for that very insightful article.Q3 of fiscal 2000 should be very interesting which ended yesterday, ie March 31,2000.

===========
'Sycamore has grown remarkably fast, considering that it reported no revenue in 1998 and reported revenue of $29 million in the 2nd quarter of the company's first fiscal year, ending January 29, 2000. Those results represent sequential quarterly growth of 49 percent over the $19.5 million reported in first fiscal quarter of 2000. The company also reported its first profit in the 2nd quarter and is on track for more than a $100-million year in fiscal 2000. You would be hard pressed to find another technology company that went from whiteboard to profitability in under 2 years..'

About competitors:

Redherring.com: Your IPO was quite an event. Now there are now many optical networking companies -- potential competitors -- lined up to go public this year. How will things change in the optical networking market?

Dan Smith: People in the business are focused on specific parts of the market but nobody is as broadly focused as us. Everybody is claiming they are Sycamore Networks.

Desh Deshpande: The guys that go public actually have to generate revenue and ship products
