The Fund Manager, now my friend 'cause he's not too crazy about Larry Kudlow and I go back to the beach the next day. We're sitting, swimming, talking about the market when suddenly a very pretty and well put-together lady puts her blanket maybe five feet from ours. She smiles at me. My Fund Manager friend sees this and says, "Say, I think I'll go for a walk. See you in an hour." Is this my chance to get lucky, maybe "relax"?
We get to talking. She asks what I do. I tell her I'm a trader, a DAY-TRADER. She is entranced. "Oh,how exciting that must be" she says. I tell her a bit about it...adding a few embellishments.
And polite fellow that I am I ask what she does. "I'm an artist" she says. "I love to paint interesting faces. You have a very interesting face. And when I'm not painting I love to make l'amour."
Oh my! I AM GONNA GET LUCKY AND REALLY RELAX.
Now I haven't spoken French since high school, but I know what l'amour means. And she happens to have a wonderfully sexy French accent.
She reaches into her beach bag and pulls out a bottle of chilled Dom Perinon, '59...with a couple of glasses, hands me one and pours.
We clink glasses and she offers a toast; "To l'amour" she coos, looking at me kinda seductively.
The beautiful French girl and I talk and smile and all that stuff.
Just then I hear footsteps in the sand, the Fund Manager no doubt. I look up. It's not the Fund Manager. It's a guy maybe six foot two, a hundred and eighty. He's slender, has a very deep tan and says "hello" with a French accent. And he has a Very Interesting Face.
The beautiful French girl who loves to paint and make l'amour gets up and gives him a Big Kiss. Three minutes later when the kiss and embrace are completed the beautiful girl says to me "This is Pierre, my lover." Golly, I couldn't have guessed.
Pierre, schemeer I'm thinking. I'm back to being unlucky and unrelaxed.
But, gentleman that I am, I extend to Pierre-the-lover my hand. We shake, as worldly men do. I'm sure my crushed hand will feel better in a few days.
"I think we've had enough sun" I say to my friend the Fund Manager. "Perhaps we should go."
We get back to the hotel and I log-on immediately. My longs are down and my shorts are up. I may drown myself.
