Dear JCJ: It's bugging me, too. Now Gore and Bush are even puting their .02 into it! Let Elian's entire family come and be citizens?!?! Geez.

What really gets me is that when it comes to Elian being able to make a rational choice over whether he wants to stay in the U.S. or go back to Cuba, his supporters say that at the age of 6 he is indeed old enough to know what he wants to do. Okay. If this little boy can make this kind of important decision on his own, why are children who kill people, intentionally or unintentionally, considered too young to be totally responsible?

As JDN mentioned when the thread got onto the OT about cat vet bills, one can not put a price on love. Well, let me add that the political system under which one lives does not alter human feelings of love. Let the little boy go home and experience the love children **everywhere** can only get from their grandparents. Parents disciple, grandparents love--it's their job! At his age, this is more important in terms of his long term development than whether he lives under a communist or capitalist regime.

Off to kill some weeds-

Regards,

Lynn
