Hi All,
I've been thinking about how usage will be charge or metered in the future. Will we be charged for being connected full time at a flat fee? Will we be paying for the actual usage ie no charge for idle cells? Will we be charged for various levels of QOS. What impact would that have on push technologies ie should I pay for having ads being included in web sites I visit. I don't wont to pay for banners being sent to me.
I am also trying to understand what the impact on CLEC's is with respect to prject pronto where the copper pairs will be terminated out in remote cabinets. The voice and then being combined over atm and fiber. Does this means the CLEC's will be have no access to the copper pairs? One other question I have is if the copper pairs are terminated in remote cabinets how will they provide life line pots? Is life line POTS going to become a thing of the past. I understand it was mandated in the US when the telcos where monopolies. It doesn't seem fair to me that the ILEC's would not be compensated for all the money they have spent in infrastructure to provide this?
Sorry for all this questions any and all insight would be welcome.
THks,
gord
