Len, remember, sentiment can turn on a DIME. For comforts sake, I keep the majority of my assets in stocks that have high earnings per share rankings in IBD.(Investor's Business Daily) A scale of 1 to 99, with 99 being the highest. A company with a 99 ranking put it in the top 1% of all publicly traded companies in profitability. QCOM, JDSU, NTAP, SEBL are all 99s. I keep the majority of my assets in these-the most profitable companies you can own. I sleep well at night holding these. ELON EPS ranking is 49, but I think it is a gorilla in the making. But I wouldn't personally put a majority of my assets in it. It represent only a minor % of my total (15%). Most pure Dot coms and other internet stocks have NO earning and typically carry EPS rankings of say 5. I comfortable holding ELON in here and I must say it could easily do LOWER! Looks to me like the last breakout point is around 54 so it could come all the way back there. CREE did that exact same thing and retraced all the way back to the 107 breakout point back in Feb. So even if ELON went TOTALLY OUT OF BUSINESS, it would hurt me but would not be the end of the world. Now if QCOM went out of business-well that's another story-I'd have to find the nearest tall building. You seemed concerned, so there's my opinion-for what it's worth. Hope this helps. It can turn on a DIME!!!
