Somebody on the Last Mile thread recently mentioned Newton's Telecom Dictionary (16th Ed.) and I just picked up a copy. This tome is a tremendous help in understanding these threads.

For example, on the previous post, I had to figure out what "RT" was. There it is, Remote Termination, with a couple sentences describing the concept. NGDLC was another, right there in the book.

I am an electrical engineer, but that doesn't help if you don't know an ILEC from a CLEC. (I work in industrial process control).

For those like me who monitor these threads in the hope of maintaining a minimum level of telecom understanding, Newton's will help greatly.

Keep up the good posts and the acronyms are now no problem.
