Good points. Why settle for a deal that requires them to ask for government approval every time they want to add new features to Windows. That would have really made it difficult to maintain a stron g market position.

What if they had allowed PC makers to separate Windows and IE. It is clear that the government would then want the Explorer-less version to be priced cheaper. MSFT would be at the mercy of the government.

I was skeptical of the talks but maintained a position in the stock. However, I trust Bill Gates and company on the long term prospects for the company. I think they have the best interest of the shareholders in mind---i mean the long term shareholders. Why make a deal for a short term stock price gain when you are jeopardizing your future.

Good for them.

Key point in those notes was the appeals court's ruling on integration and there is nothing that has changed that. I expect a win in the end. The damage had already been done at trial so why give up too much now.
