William: Your observation on corporates reflects something else -- risk perception as reflected in the spread between corporates and treasuries. A month ago your pat answer would be the standard reply -- but you will find this interpretation increasingly challenged by the steadily inverting treasury yield curve COMBINED with credit spreads which are larger than in October 98. The "soft-landing" isn't looking so soft this time around.
