This should be a negative for the market obviously

MSFT is up about 20 fold from the time of the original FTC investigation that led to the current litigation, circa 1990. MSFT is up about 10 fold since Judge Jackson was assigned the case, circa 1996. During this time, I can't recall a single event coming out of the trial that was anything but bad news for MSFT. Will this time be different?

I own a big chunk of MSFT, bought in the single digits. But I have to admit that it has occurred to me that a Draconian finale may be best for every one of us, MSFT shareholders or not. You see, MSFT sent cascading down to under 10 would crash global markets which would ignite economic upheaval and probably incite political insurrection all over the globe. Blood will eventually flow and people will die. Reno, who started her reign by incinerating innocent American children, will end her reign with a legacy of "anti-christ."

Why would this be good? Because then my children, their children and their children's children will in all probability live in eras where this sort of political incompetence and insanity will not be tolerated. The devastation alluded to above will always be remembered and dealt with in the same way civilized people deal with the holocaust, "Never Again."

In the end, even if my MSFT stock were to be confiscated by the government, I will be grateful to Bill Gates for standing for principle above capitulation and reminding me that there are things more precious then money in this life, in this time and in this place.
