nihil, the Southern Arapaho (no e) are now quite Americanized and have not spoken their native language in quite some time. Since they live in Oklahoma, along with 22 other tribes, and mingled closely with the Southern Cheyenne, it is simpler for all to use one tongue. The name "Haqihana" was a gift to me from a friendly member of the tribe who I worked with for awhile. Although I am part Native American, my ancestors are not of the plains tribes. In case you are struggling with my blood origins, I am Irish, English, Welsh, French, German, Pennsylvania Dutch, Mohawk, and Seneca. It appears that my predecessors got around a bit. ~H~ |
