William, No, I don't think Microsofts products are overpriced. If you don't like MS Office...use Corel office suite or IBMs products or a bunch of others. If you think Microsoft charges too much for IE5, pay more for Netscape. If you don't want to pay for Front Page, use Homesite or Dreamweaver. They are considered better. If you don't like Windows, get a MAC or use Linux.
RE:"And think about this: Because Microsoft is selling more and more copies of its software, it could easily drop its prices, and still increase profits, but it doesn't"
And OPEC could easily drop its prices, CocaCola could drop theirs, so could Lawyers, Doctors, supermarkets, retaurants, newspapers etc.... Heck, for that matter the government could tell everyone what to charge...eh' Comrade?
I'll tell you what's going to happen...the consumer is going to get the shaft and the Lawyers will line their pockets. After the US government beats it's domestic companies in the dirt, some foreign companies will step up and fill the void, all subsidized by their governments...and the liberal "politically correct" crowd will think this is wonderfully fair and say nothing. We will open the paper and read a wonderfully written article on this written by an author with no clue.
