re. Short term vs. Long term

First let me say I'm posting this here in the hopes that I may save some grief from lurking newbies -ones that have yet to "be there and do that".

As one who at least tries to do both ST and LT, I firmly believe it's obligatory to compartmentalize. The set of ingrained habits that will yield success in these two games are frequently diametrically opposed. It is best to view them as separate arenas. Too often people try apply "lessons learned" in one arena to the other. Works 'bout as well as applying basketball ideas to hockey. Ever so often something may transfer, but in general don't expect there to be much transference.

For the LTB&H arena, GG is better than "sliced bread". But some of the hallmarks of the GG approach can be deadly in the short run. In the long run (IMO) the principle determining factor in a stocks price is the company's performance. In the short run (again IMO) the principle determining factor in a stocks price is psychology. Very different. Since we are dealing with mass psychology certain repeatable behavioral patterns can be used for advantage and profit. I mention this only to point out how wide the gulf is between the two arenas.
