I happen to see benefit for SUNW AOL and ORCL even if there is a settlement. I respect MSFT as an applications company and up to Windows 95, as an OS company, but I have been aware of MSFT's anti competitiveness over the years and was shocked at their behavior in changing JAVA in opposition of the "open" nature for which it was designed.

I am not looking for the unraveling of the company, to the contrary , I see the company getting stung by the law and then returning to a more innovative stance which would be useful to the average pvt and business consumer.

Will this legal wrangling help my portfolio of SUNW ORCL and AOL heck yeah! I feel that these companies have not reached their full potential and by themselves are poised to grow significantly despite what MSFT does. Changing MSFT business practices can only be a mild help to my portfolio.

I believe that if I was long MSFT with a low cost basis, I would stick with it through this crisis. I would reconsider my holding IMO if I held MSFT if growth was blunted by all these goings on.
