Monday April 3, 8:02 am Eastern Time Company Press Release NCTI Subsidiary DistributedMedia.com Receives Additional $2 Million License Nation's No. 1 Media Spending Region To Be Developed STAMFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 3, 2000--NCT Group Inc. (OTCBB:NCTI - news) Monday announced that its subsidiary, DistributedMedia.com Inc. (``DMC') received $2 million as a license for the right to develop a portion of the New York region within DMC's affiliate network.
DMC values the license for the entire New York region at $60 million.
As a means of accelerating growth and delivering expanded reach to its advertisers, DMC is supplementing its national account efforts by forming a nationwide affiliate network to deploy its Sight & Sound(TM) microbroadcasting systems to smaller chains as well as independent retail outlets. In the United States, DMC plans to establish its nationwide affiliate network through the licensing of up to 210 DMAs. (DMAs, or Designated Market Areas, are Nielsen Media Research geographic territories used by advertisers to measure reach.) A similar licensing strategy is being executed internationally.
Because it is the nation's number one media spending region, DMC is focusing its network affiliate deployment strategy on the New York DMA. This region consists of approximately 360,000 potential sites for Sight & Sound(TM).
Each Sight & Sound system utilizes NCTI-developed patented and patent-pending technology. The system includes a digital microbroadcasting controller as well as flat panel speakers supplied by NCT Audio Products Inc., an NCTI subsidiary. All Sight & Sound installations, regardless of their global location, will be managed by DMC's Central Control Network.
DMC, a subsidiary of NCT Group Inc., sells place-based broadcast and billboard advertising through a microbroadcasting network of Sight & Sound(TM) audio systems deployed to a wide array of untapped out-of-home environments. For more information refer to www.distributedmedia.com.
