It won't surprise you to learn that I also don't own a digital camera. :)

Seriously, I think it's interesting that in my question about empirical evidence of a tornado in digital cameras I've only recieved one snippet of empirical evidence in response, the stuff about the massive estimated growth. I realize that I travel in a different world than you do insofar as early adopters and pragmatists are concerned,:) but my own anecdotal evidence is that darned few people own digital cameras though it's becoming more and more difficult to notice the differnce between film and digital cameras.

I read several photography magazines every month and based on the info in them I would be surprised to learn that as many digital cameras will be sold next year as film-based cameras. I'm not saying it's not reasonably possible.

One source of confusion is the issue of uploads to digital sites for web storage and e-mail. Most of those uploads are from scans of photos taken on film-based cameras. I'm not ignoring that the proliferation of the ability to load photos directly from a camera into a computer and up to a website doesn't help promote use of digital cameras, but the fact that those capabilities are firmly in place doesn't necessarily mean the tornado is already in progress.

The folks who believe the digital camera tornado is in progress might be right. I'd just like to see one fact of empirical evidence showing past growth and I've yet to see it.
