Well, social equality is used precisely in that sense, and I am not attempting novelty: when women are able to pursue career goals or take roles in public life that have traditionally been reserved to men. I did not say that there should be comparable ambition. In fact, I specifically said that it makes sense if there is a persistence of traditional sex roles as the rule, at least during the period of child- raising. But there is no denying that the traditional model limits the ability of women to compete on an equal footing with men, and presupposes that most things outside the family will remain "male"..........
