Mike 2.0: The idea that the silverbacks are "sure things" still bothers me - a lot.

They ain't.

Nothing is except death and taxes (and sadly now regulation).

I am therefore very concerned that this "sure thing" language is now part of the header for this thread.

Bad and dangerous IMO.

I strongly recommend its deletion and some substitute found for the idea that the old gorillas may have somewhat less fluctuation down than other companies do - if 30% plus down is "somewhat less" in the real world.

And some better language than "sure thing" to convey the idea that the silverbacks are among the safest long term investments available and much to be recommended for a conservative "anchor" in a portfolio.
