I have not had too much trouble with the Palm and battery life, although I consider myself a "light" user. I have noticed that a "complete" back-up of Outlook, including mail, does seriously eat into the battery life. At present, I do not backup my mail to the Palm, and that saves the batteries. So Lithium smithium as far as I am concerned. Connectivity is the way to solve that problem IMO, so I switched to the VII. Now I can get urgent mail directly over the air, and the Palm does not get cluttered with old stuff. My philosophy is to use the Palm around the office, or on short road warrior trips within the SF Bay Area. Longer trips, with viewfoils, or esp overseas, a CE-based laptop is the way to go, not a Palm. I bought an IBM WorkPad (hear that Palm?!!!?) and love it. It compliments my Palm, and does not replace it. I would love a cord between the two to get wireless with the workpad, without going "industrial-geekoid" and trying to do RadioMail or whatever old technology is out there...(again....listening Palm?!!?)
