Nah, it's not serious. I think James is engaging in a bit of hyperbole, and the once apricot-juice drinking Janice (snot-juice, her description) is having some fun baiting him. She may think she's serious, but I suspect boredom may be at the root of this particular episode of 'pin the tail on the nazi'.
