I am looking for the Andy Yamaguchi chat thread. Is this the right place? <<G>> The Corning fiber that is discussed in the press release is NOT LEAF fiber. It is being used for a metro application that normally does not need dispersion compensation in the first place. This makes the application a bit suspect. The other problem with this fiber and all DCF (Dispersion Compensating Fiber) is they tend to have very small effective areas. That limits the power levels that can be put into the device/fiber. AVNX's device looks to be more oriented toward existing SMF 28 fiber that is the majority of what the older carriers (AT&T,MCI) have in the ground. The new carriers (Level 3, Qwest) tend to use Tru Wave or LEAF NZDSF fibers. I think AVNX's device would have a harder time working on those fibers. One of the other problems that I have with all the rhetoric flying is the relationship between MCI & AVNX. 300,000+ shares at $13-$14/share and how much of the revenue is from MCI? Makes you wanna go HHMMMMMMM! Soeone compared Cerent to AVNX. Cerent had 40-60 customers when the buyout was announced. That speaks volumes more than anything we have heard from AVNX. We will just have to wait and see what the company releases. Regards, Milkman
