Former Energy Secretary Mosbacher Defends Higher Oil Prices in World Energy Article
HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 3, 2000--Former Energy Secretary Robert Mosbacher has challenged American consumers to rethink their current anguish over high oil prices, arguing that the ``proper' price level is far higher than the recent low of $11/bbl.
In his article in World Energy© magazine, currently available at worldenergysource.com, Mosbacher says the real aberration in prices was the low of a year ago, and that oil prices at that level were a mixed blessing at best.
Adjusted for inflation, an oil price between $25 and $35/bbl ``is right in line with other commodities, goods and services,' Mosbacher asserts. He also criticized news coverage for overlooking, ``the benefits from alternative fuels that become feasible in this new pricing environment.'
Also in the new issue of World Energy©, Arthur D. Little's Christopher Ross explains his vision of ``The Virtual Oil Company,' and an entire section of the magazine is devoted to the explosion of opportunities within the Canadian oil and gas industry.
All of the new articles are available free at World Energy©'s website, translated into six different languages. The site is an energy industry research asset, with a searchable database of information and links to companies, governments, stock exchanges and energy organizations worldwide.
