The competition is nearly underway............ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- McDonnell Douglas in Jan delayed the planned launch of the first five Iridium satellites that will carry wireless telephone transmissions around the world. Friday morning, the launch was delayed again. Iridium people at the Vandenberg Base in California said the mission was delayed due to wind. The Delta II rocket was scheduled to leave 11 AM EST on Saturday, May 3. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- By comparison, Globalstar is on schedule. First launch in a couple of months or so.
