No, according to the Washington Post, Jackson's final order won't be until next month, at the earliest. And it's not exactly backbone, I'd say he's shown plenty of that. The havoc that the process is going to wreak on Microsoft's stock, Microsoft's business, the financial well-being of Microsoft's investors, the financial well-being of Microsoft's competitors, so on and on and on, is substantial. He doesn't want to get overrruled by the Court of Appeals, although he seems to expect that may happen. If it's going to the Supremes, he doesn't want to drop any stitches. Reading the public reactions of Gates and Ballmer, I can't tell if they are carefully crafted or if these dudes just don't have a clue. There is always time for them to work out a deal - and they may be hoping that they will get a better audience in the Court of Appeals. Fun for us sitting on the sidelines, can't be fun to be experiencing. I am looking into Linux, myself. |
