New trend in market making? Or is it complimentary market making between the electronic and traditional?

Electronic with 2.5 million traders on the internet is awesome. The momentum and the run on the clearing houses can be troublesome. Today, many internet traders experience slow down in confirmation of execution of orders. Lead market makers are often electronically oriented. They have alliances with many clearing houses. What is missing is the full service brokerages and their analysts who study and recommend stocks.

Back comes traditional market makers, who do large block distribution into brokers' offices to retail in round lots to clients. What is missing still is the telemarketing skills to cover all the brokers' offices in the channel. This core business stabilizes the market for any stock. No more momentum and run on the bank; but a market based on the performance of the company. More stockholders holding round lots create a market which can be smoother and more liquid.

We hope the electronic market will be better defined by the traditional market makers.
