>>Is the final resolution next month or the penalty phase starting next month?<<

Washington Post says Jackson will schedule hearings on proposed remedies starting next month. Should be a circus, all sides will present, I guess, including all eighteen states. When it's done, he'll issue a final order setting forth remedies, aka penalties.

Microsoft can settle at any time, but they are presently dealing from a position of weakness. I've read reports that Microsoft offered significant concessions during the mediation attempts, but the states attorney generals were unwilling to accept, probably less willing to deal than the US Justice Department.

I'm just happy to have proof that Microsoft deliberately scuttled Netscape, which I use. To me, that's like Ford making cars that crash without Ford tires. *ssh*les.
