Listened to the CC this am
couple more pts----

-they don't think this will affect ETEK review at all

-further they have not yet ben asked to divest any part of their businesses

-they essentiall consider Cronos "most stategic and important aquisition to date" (eg: "looking back or these
aquisitions a year or two from now" etc)paraphrasing here

-work w/ MEMS which is essentially electrically controlled micro switches (w/ mirrors) starting at
1x2 configurations but are extremely small low power req. and can be scaled fairly easily to larger
arrays (w/ further JDSU modifications) (the primary problem w/ larger scaling appears to be signal to
noise ratios and signal attuation w/ sequential splitting
-Cronos already has a Fab (and do foundry work for others working on MEMS technology), and
can rapidly scale the size of that as needed
they see MEMS as not the holy grail but as an integral part of optical switching along w/ polymer and
liquid crystal
-look to optical switching as a 10 billion $ industry by 2003
-cronos has 3 dimensional mirror switching technology

This is what I understood of the call
I apologize in advance for the lack of technical information or errors in describing the technology(i'm
an MD not a PhD)
