Powerhouse CEO, Ruann Ernst of Digital Island to Headline ZD Studios' Broadband Media Conference
PR NEWSWIRE - April 04, 2000 08:59
NEEDHAM, Mass., Apr 4, 2000 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- ZD Studios announced today that its Broadband Media Conference will feature top player Digital Island's CEO, Ruann Ernst. Ms. Ernst, who will keynote the event on Wednesday, May 17, has been instrumental in driving Digital Island's rise to a leadership position in the broadband content delivery industry. Her keynote address entitled, "Profiting From The Web: The Future of Transactive Multimedia" will discuss how companies can benefit from market opportunities now available from rich multimedia content delivered via broadband networks. ZD Studios' Broadband Media Conference is a landmark executive conference addressing the new converged broadband media market and its profound affect on the media, marketing and advertising industries. The event will be held May 16-17, 2000 at the Argent Hotel in San Francisco.

Digital Island, the first provider to offer international service level agreements guaranteeing the performance of data delivery up to specified speed and accuracy levels, has planted a firm stake in the burgeoning digital data delivery market. Since October the company has sent shock waves through the industry with its acquisitions of Sandpiper and Live On Line, and the combined investment of $26 million by Sun Microsystems and Inktomi.

Jupiter Communications Analyst Preston Dodd was quoted in the February 29 issue of Upside saying: "No other hosting company will be able to offer what Digital Island can with the Sandpiper merger." Alex Benik, a Yankee Group analyst added that, "Digital Island is one of the most forward-thinking hosting providers."

From May 16-17, 2000, at the Argent Hotel in San Francisco, the Broadband Media Conference -- part of the New World Networks Series -- will examine the entire gamut of broadband technology and explore how businesses can implement technologies to achieve business goals. The event will explore the most critical issues in this developing market, such as new ways to generate ad revenue, what's hot in content and services development, optimizing content distribution, and technical options for delivering Web content to TV and TV content to the Web. The three-track conference will help executive-level attendees from new and traditional media companies, advertising, and the service provider arenas to transform, create and deliver new digital media to the consumer market.

Sponsors for the Broadband Media Conference include C Me Run, iBeam and Microsoft Corp. Inter@ctiveWeek is the media partner for this event and the International Webcasting Association is an association sponsor. Up-to-date keynote and conference information is available at newworldnets.com. For media registration, call 781/433-1756.

The New World Networks Conference Series was developed by ZD Studios. The Series is designed to help end-users, service providers, equipment vendors and content generators manage the challenges and opportunities presented by the transition from traditional voice-driven circuit-switched networks to data intensive packet-switched networks.
