Nokia, Cisco sign networking deal

HELSINKI (CBS.MW) -- Nokia Oyj and Cisco Systems unveiled a non-exclusive networking deal Tuesday that aims to boost connectivity between mobile networks and Internet protocol backbone networks.
Nokia (NOK: news, msgs), the world's biggest cell phone maker, is to market and sell interoperable systems products including Nokia's Internet protocol (IP) mobility core and Cisco's backbone routing technology.
Nokia is to use Cisco's backbone routing, LAN switching and enterprise products to build wireless IP networking products for its customers. Meanwhile, Cisco (CSCO: news, msgs) will train Nokia's engineers to use its products and technologies such as the Catalyst family of switches and the Cisco 12000 Gigabit Switch Router.
"This non-exclusive agreement will give operators the ability to have comprehensive wireless systems solutions combining world class backbone technology, mobile core, Internet network planning, implementation and support services," the two companies said in a statement."
