"I have a hard time believing that 12 or 24 months is enough time to dethrone flash memory from its position in the market for large capacity storage in the consumer electronics market."

Aus,

My assumption is that the new technologies will in fact compete one-to-one with current flash form factors. IF this is the case, then the current 5 year SNDK earnings projections are in jeopardy. SNDK is/was valued based on these projections and the market is forward looking.

As your informative post reveals, there are advantages to newer NV-RAM technologies over flash which could make a significant difference to comsumers such as write speed. For example, I own an Olympus C2500 which is a very nice camera although my biggest complaints about it are the lack of a manual ring focus and the long time to transfer pics to the memory card(s). I usually take SHQ resolution pics which typically are 1.8MB each. The uncompressed image is close to 8MB!

This is my reasoning for taking a sideline position with SNDK. I know it conflicts with yours, but I appreciate your civility and I wish you the best.
