Don't have to understand about market makers. Unless you are a market maker, you need not know what I am talking about.

Short interest is common stock sold short. Convertible issue is bond or preferred stock convertible to common stock. Do they have any relations to the short interest of common stock? Wait for the annual report and you can see if they have any convertible issue that might effect short interest.
