just started following this a few weeks back and I am intrigued... here's some news that's interesting too...

BELTSVILLE, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 3, 1997--DIGEX Inc.
(NASDAQ:DIGX) today announced the addition of THE WALL from Raptor
to the Company's suite of firewall security products designed to
protect the transfer of IP traffic of small and mid-sized business
customers operating on the World Wide Web.
Recently introduced by Raptor Systems Inc. (NASDAQ:RAPT), THE
WALL provides an affordable, easily formatted and scaleable security
solution, and augments DIGEX's suite of highly secure firewall
products.
DIGEX offers THE WALL to support the security requirements of
companies utilizing the Company's dedicated high-bandwidth business
Internet connectivity solutions. DIGEX is the first Internet
carrier to introduce THE WALL, complementing a suite of Raptor
firewall products, including the Eagle NT network security product.
"In the past, Raptor developed products that successfully
addressed the security requirements of medium to large corporations
operating complex networks," stated Gene Noble, DIGEX's Vice
President, Business Internet Connectivity Group. "Raptor's
introduction of THE WALL allows DIGEX to serve the security needs of
a new segment of the Internet market and upgrade each customer's
security solution as their business expands. Inclusion of THE WALL
in our comprehensive firewall suite reflects the growing importance
of expertly integrated network security solutions among DIGEX's base
of business customers."
THE WALL is a Windows NT-based security solution for small and
mid-sized companies that require an affordable, preconfigured
firewall product for the protection of file transfers, electronic
mail and World Wide Web access. Raptor's latest security solution
combines simple installation and management with low cost and
scaleability, allowing companies to manage network expenses and
upgrade security as their business grows. Based on Raptor's
award-winning and proven Eagle technology, THE WALL provides the
industry's highest level of security against outside attacks by
permitting limited and managed access to an organization's network.
"THE WALL represents an affordable, industry-leading network
security solution for smaller businesses operating on the World Wide
Web," said Shaun McConnon, President and Chief Operating Officer,
Raptor Systems. "THE WALL is ideal for organizations challenged by
potential and existing security threats, allowing them to conduct
business on the Web with confidence."
DIGEX focuses on serving the Internet and World Wide Web needs
of businesses and offers an array of dedicated, point-to-point and
network circuit configurations that connect corporate LANs directly
to the DIGEX's Gold Ring fiber optic network. The Company's
high-bandwidth circuits support active networks, Web servers, large
data and file transfers, and multimedia applications, serving the
mission-critical connectivity requirements of corporate customers.
Raptor's THE WALL is ideally suited for DIGEX's 56 Kbps customers,
supporting the network security needs of businesses with approximately
25 users. An extended configuration integrating a Web server is
scheduled for introduction by Raptor later this year.
DIGEX's Gold Ring national Internet backbone is comprised of a
series of bi-directional 45 Mbps DS-3 rings with no single point of
failure, providing greater than 99.9% network availability. The
Company provides dedicated high-bandwidth Internet connectivity
services ranging from 56 Kbps to 45 Mbps. Over the past year, DIGEX
has strategically expanded its network to support the Internet
connectivity and Web site management requirements of its corporate
customers. DIGEX's Web Site Management Group operates the world's
largest dedicated server Web site management facility and was the
first national Internet carrier to offer the full line of Microsoft
Windows NT 4.0 server products.
