TULSA, Okla., April 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Williams Communications WCG , Vyvx Services has expanded its vision for a broadband media services platform, and announced new service initiatives that will enable specific applications for the media industry. The Vyvx MediaXtranet(SM) is a network, hosting and navigation system that will facilitate the movement of live and non-live content for business-to-business media applications. Applications under development include ad hosting, news hosting, news gathering and production, webcasting and media asset management. The Vyvx MediaXtranet(SM) initiatives are intended to deliver new value to Vyvx(R) customers and to significantly expand the customer's ability to move, navigate and transact content in new streaming and file-based formats.
Vyvx has created a business development unit, New Media Services, to focus exclusively on opportunities in the business-to-business broadband media marketplace. Greg Onyszchuk, former executive director of marketing and engineering for Vyvx Fiber Services, has been appointed vice president of the new business unit. He has built a professional team that will focus on developing file-based and streaming media solutions for broadcast and Internet content companies and the service providers that deliver this content.

Vyvx meets customers' broadband media transmission needs through integrated fiber-optic, satellite and teleport services. A service of Williams Communications based in Tulsa, Okla., Vyvx operations span the United States, with offices in Miami and Singapore to serve markets in Latin America and Asia. Vyvx transmission paths include fiber, satellite space segment, fixed and transportable earth stations to enable worldwide distribution of broadcast news, sports, advertising and special events. The Vyvx transponder inventory is linked to the Williams Multi-Service Broadband Network(TM) through four U.S. earth stations.
