Easy, Frank take it easy:
Janet Reno doesn't write the anti-trust laws, but she
is sworn to uphold them, like it or not. These laws
didn't appear out of nowhere, there have been historical
reasons why them came to be the law of the land. I
have never gotten the impression that she "hates"
anyone, and certainly not a corporation.
You may not agree that they are good laws, so perhaps
a George W. Bush will be the person you want to lobby
for abolishing them. He may or may not agree with you.
Republicans talk a good game of support for laissez-
faire capitalism, but they aren't that far from the
Democrats when it comes to implementation and enforcement
of laws and regulations governing business.
Consumers will appreciate that they have been harmed
by MSFT when they are able to select from a number of
competing products.
For my part, I have argued for non-proprietary operating
systems on ALL PC's used as workstations. I think MSFT
should be divested of ALL it's workstation OS software
(not server). That software should be made public-domain
and it should be maintained by committee as a commodity.
Then, value could be added to the PC the way it should
be done: by competing applications vendors.
Needless to say, that point of view didn't go over too
well on the MSFT thread, but it does remain my point of
view on the issue. If you think the whole world should
know about that and your own points of view, let's find
a vehicle on the internet for publishing both. We could
have a daily "crossfire" show sponsored by Yahoo. (LOL!)
