Paul Ma, <The big companies do not have a secret talisman to make their computers more stable>
Oh yes they do. They have thermal chambers, they have
validation engineers, they have in-house BIOS
engineers, they have carefully crafted
stress and diagnostics software, they have multi-
gigaherz and multi-$$k analyzers and scopes, they
have collections of every software pieces ever sold,
every OS, game or application, they run these
application 24/7 scripted on batches of machines
they built, they have industry connections,
they have early preproduction samples
to resolve problems in advance, they...

Of course, after all this job is done on
most parts that are given ok into production
and resale, some home-assembled computer may be
as reliable as the industially-built one.
But some manufacturers may want to be first
to the market, and certain level of
"incompatibility" leaks out, so customer
be aware...

Regards,
- Ali
