CTC, I have followed your lucid and extraordinarily well written posts for some time. Those over this past weekend on the CTXS thread have been among the best of a very good crop indeed. In part (but only in part) because the 'weekend series' focused on cash flow as one of the key determinants of value.
I have attempted (pleaded, begged, screamed, etc.) to convince my 24 year old genius son to look at any given stock as if he were buying the local bar on the corner. When I 'reduce' valuation theory to investing in the nearest watering hole, he has no problem understanding cash flow and immediately seizes on paying a price which is {intimately} related to it.
Let the topic turn to buying 100 shares of HYSTERICAL.COM however, and poor old Dad just doesn't 'get it'. I was actually going to send him your posts but figured that your version of events, however eloquent, would fall on the same dumb, deaf ears: buy HYSTERICAL cuz it's going up and the hell with the cash flow.
Fortunately, Monday and Tuesday came to my [our] rescue. HYSTERICAL ain't looking so hot, and that crummy old cash flow is looking pretty warm and fuzzy.
Keep posting CTC--much appreciated. Mike Doyle
