Helios, this dak with like to add to DAK's replies to you.
<<... argument over paper verses gold will become irrelevant. ... Money will almost completely disappear as a medium of exchange. ... the transactions would be handled by computer. ... this replacement is already taking place...>>
You are correct in what you say, but in many different ways that what you understand it to be as you have been taken for a ride by those who wish to complete that still ongoing task to vanish gold as a means to measure the value that the paper with ink and numbers printed on it represent.
Sure would make it a lot easier for the world's sick and inept and criminal minded government leaders of all the nations if they alone thru their own thoughts put into the computers would decide the value of everything. As you point out, then it would be by their decrees what the computer tells you as fact the worth of whatever you hold as assets.
The <<over paper verses gold>> argument just make a complex issue less complex, but extremely more foggy. Which helps those of the anti gold standard as the citizens would rather admit to be confused than stupid.
Paper money needs a backing so that its value is real and difficult to corrupt. Remember, governments control the money supply, and 99% of everyone knows governnments are made of 99% of the following: corruption, stupid, wasteful...
Lets see, seems that along the same line of thoughts you hold, that you may agree to the following, as it would accomplish that you say will happen.
ok, everyone who receives a paycheck rather than have it sent to you or your checking account it goes directly to your governments of local, state & federal and now the good news no more taxes april 15 as the governemnts will spend you paycheck upfront for all your needs and whats left over you get see, need less computers now and gold history as money
