One poster mentioned that he thought Agilent had made an announcement about a "pure optical" network. I searched but found nothing (so far) about any such Agilent announcement. I did, however, stumble upon this from Avici Systems: avici.com Their slogan is "ENABLING a new frontier by routing PACKETS OVER LIGHT" I do not count myself among the super-techno-literati, but perhaps someone from that rarified zone could comment.
