The person you were responding to. Rarebird - if gold is up then XAU has to be up by some multiple - but during the day dthere must have been a lot of margin concerns - so IMO gols stocks did well. A conventional wisdom seems to be current on this and other threads that gold and stocks have to act in concert in some way - but those of us who have been around for a while know that this is not always so.
