Quoting in reference to the Howard Weil financial conference article, "New Orleans based Tidewater delivered more details about a new building program it recently unveiled. Tidewater will construct 12 to 18 vessels (conventional hull form OSV's) costing $250 million to $300 million with possible options on additional boats. Companuy president William C. O'Malley said the company wants to participate in long-term "alliance" contracts with major oil companies that would cover offshore deepwater sites. The goal is to have the boats hit the waters just as rental rates take off."

Note the perception of the timing in the business cycle by Mr. O'Malley, that's a very important consideration for the performance of this stock with time, and in this case the shipyards are in front of the OSV operators in the launch sequence . . .

50DMA 6.3 (second level of support, has withstood strong pressure in recent days)
200DMA 9.35 (FINAL technical resistance level which I expect to become support on or before release of 1Q/00 results)
