Sites

WaveRider Communications Inc. (OTCBB:WAVC)(FSE:WVR.), a global provider of fixed wireless Internet access products, announced today that the Cherokee County (GA) Sheriff's Office has chosen the WaveRider wireless solution to expand its Internet and wide area network (WAN) access.

The Sheriff's Office, located north of Atlanta, has installed WaveRider's NCL product family to allow for greater bandwidth and faster transmissions, accommodating the office's increased application needs. The system will link together three Uniform Patrol Precincts: Adult Detention Center/Administration, Criminal Investigations/South Annex and the Cherokee County Justice Center. Additionally, the IS department can extend its Ethernet networks without incurring the ongoing cost of leased telephone lines or installation wiring.

"This network upgrade and software change enhances our services enabling us to more effectively serve the citizens of Cherokee County," said Roger Garrison, sheriff, Cherokee County. "WaveRider's solution enables officers to file incident reports and booking information from our three precincts, ensuring the most current, reliable information is available."

"WaveRider is providing the Sheriff's law enforcement units with a high-speed connection to the Internet," said Bruce Sinclair, president & CEO, WaveRider. "It is exciting to see how law enforcement departments can use the power of the Internet to increase efficiency and better manage vital information." About Cherokee County

The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office is comprised of 260 men and women who are dedicated to protecting the 136,000 people in Cherokee County. Currently the Sheriff's Office Web site (www.cherokeega-sheriff.org/) provides information about its field operations, headquarters information and employment applications. In November of 1996, the Sheriff's Office became the first nationally accredited Sheriff's Office in the state of Georgia.
