Chicago,

It seems as though you are correct in your assumption. Creo took the first shot to help the spin machine. Heidelberg could not be happy with Creo for buying the competition in the CTP arena. They must also have been frustrated that the SM-74 DI does not work well and is having significant problems with quality and reliability. Add to that the patent issue that makes their relationship with one of their most important suppliers (QM-DI kits) and H. may not have been very flexible in negotiations. They may not be, going forward either, regarding the OEM deals in questions.

Creo has traded the alliance with H. for the sales volume of its purchase of scitex. That Scitex business unit was in trouble and that is why its stock price was falling and why it was sold off. Now they must face their previous friends (H) as competition.

Presstek will end up with the OEM equipment for the imaging kits on the SM-74. That will end any arbitration (may be the result of) and give H. a quality product for a troubled press. The sales of that press may not be very significant. The most significant issue is if PRST gets the contract.

Slam dunk for us if it happens.
