Excerpts:

The region's top performer last year, Mexico continues to be
an investor favorite. The MSCI Mexico was up 4.51% for the
quarter. This makes it the fourth-best performing Latin
American market, after Argentina, Peru and Venezuela.

The top-performing ADR this quarter was Bancomer (OTC:GFNSY
- news), which rose 36%. Bancomer was helped by expectations
surrounding its Internet strategy and favorable industry
fundamentals. The bank recently announced plans to merge
with the Mexican subsidiary of Spain's BBV Argentaria's
(NYSE:BBV - news). If completed, the combined entity would
be the biggest bank in Mexico, surpassing Banacci (OTC:GFLMF
- news), which is short for Grupo Financiero Banamex Accival.

Not far behind was Nuevo Grupo Iusacell (NYSE:CEL - news),
which gained 35%. Mexico's second-largest cellular carrier,
Iusacell is experiencing explosive subscriber growth.
Controlled by the Bell Atlantic (NYSE:BEL - news) of the US,
Iusacell recently introduced wireless Internet access in an
attempt to appeal to upscale customers.
