"ethics" is a plural nown (as is "ethike"). It is more correct to say "ethics are" than "ethics is." When referring to a work of art by its title which is in plural form, it is usually appropriate to refer to as either plural or singular as the noun appens to be. "The Analects" is the best known work of Confucious. "The Ten Commandments" are attributed to Moses. "The Federalist Papers" are attributed to Hamilton, Madison, and Jay. The "Nichomachean Ethics" are one of Aristotle's major works.
