John:

I suspect the real grizzly will not appear until after the elections. This year should see continued huge volatility offering many opportunities for savvy traders, but unnerving the confidence of the the "buy and hold" crowd.

The odds are very great that the market will be booming come election time. But such a boom will be much easier to trigger if stocks sell off substantially during the first half.

So my expectation is that the market will trend lower for the next few months (although not radically lower). Old economy stocks will continue to hold up much better than most of techs. But by summer/early fall with stocks more reasonably valued and the Fed finished hiking rates, I look for a powerful rally to begin.
